People gathered at a congress in a large conference place

With MWC Barcelona, one of the most important mobile technology trade fairs, will open its gates again next Monday. LifeProof, one of GlobalCom’s international PR clients will introduce its latest protective cases for smartphones and tablets at the fair – making everyone’s favorite gadgets water, snow, dust, and shock proof. This gives users the freedom to take their smartphones or tablets with them every day, everywhere, for everything – if they swim, hike, bike, surf, ski or play. At MWC, visitors can watch how iPhones and iPads are being dropped from 2 meters height, submerged underwater and used in dirt or snow. And with the new LifeProof Galaxy S3 case, previewed for the first time at Mobile World Congress, Android users will experience the same freedom.

Innovative new products like this make Mobile World Congress a news hot spot for editors of media from all over Europe and abroad. With shrinking travel budgets, however, there is also a growing number of editors who are not able to attend events and trade fairs even if they would like to report on the news and trends featured at the show. Therefore it becomes more and more important for companies and PR agencies to deliver press material such as news releases, product information, company background information, image material and, if possible, updates from the show with constantly updated material to these editors.

Companies can either offer a digital press room on their own website like our client example LifeProof or – if the clients do not have this feature in place – the PR agency can offer a digital press room. GlobalCom has been providing this service since 2010 with the first digital press room for SANYO at Musikmesse Frankfurt , providing daily fresh image material and comments throughout the event. Since then, the interest by both clients and media has increased steadily and the press rooms for events such as IFA, CeBIT or general press material for clients have been used very successfully to complement updates on channels such as Twitter or Facebook with more comprehensive information and additional material.
