African Development Bank
MEAComS, an Egypt based GlobalCom PR Network team, has worked with the African Development Bank on multiple projects stretching from 2009 until the present. The main challenge the Bank has faced in the past years was not being known by laymen as most of its processes were done on a higher level with the government. The Bank’s investments supporting the Egyptian economy were also not adequately publicized.
MEAComS provides the African Development Bank with multiple services including making logistical arrangements for events such as conferences and forums contracting third party suppliers, formulating and disseminating communication materials on behalf of the bank, coaching spokespersons on how to handle the media during interviews and providing extensive media coverage.
Previously, MEAComS handled the media coverage surrounding the Bank’s multiple projects including the signing of a loan agreement at the Ministry of International Cooperation with Minister Fayza Aboul Naga, a grand agreement with the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe, a grant agreement with Minister Fayza Aboul Naga benefitting small farm holders and finally the 47th Annual Meeting held in Tanzania.
The agency’s latest project with the AfDB was about arranging and managing the media coverage of the Bank’s youth employment forum “Building the Future of Egypt”. The Bank wanted to take this opportunity to showcase their reports and studies and highlight the fact that the role they play in the region is as important as that of the World Bank or IMF. The forum was hosted jointly by the African Development Bank and the Social Development Fund under the auspices of Egypt’s Prime Minister, Dr. Hisham Qandil.
Over the course of a month, MEAComS was able to provide coverage for the bank in a 124 news channels. MEAComS started by releasing a statement to the media about the upcoming Forum, emphasizing the Bank’s forecast of Egypt’s economic future and their intention to discuss innovative solutions to the problem of youth unemployment in Egypt in order to generate interest. This was followed by a press release about the Forum a few days later which was quickly picked up by the international and local media. Apart from the successful handling of the event MEAComS was able to reach 18,162,843 people through the generated coverage that was worth 3,034,788 EGP in terms of advertising value.
Throughout the partnership with the African Development Bank MEAComS successfully handled five events hosting high ranking dignitaries and Egyptian Ministers and generated media coverage that is worth 4,939,437 EGP in advertising value.
