PR for Mobile World Congress

Mobile World Congress

Mobile World Congress has built a global reputation as the premier industry event of the year. The entire industry therefore competes on an annual basis to convince the organisers, the GSMA, that they are worthy of inclusion on the conference agenda.

Challenge

Mobile World Congress has built a global reputation as the premier industry event of the year. The entire industry therefore competes on an annual basis to convince the organisers, the GSMA, that they are worthy of inclusion on the conference agenda. The agenda blends the most influential with the most innovative as the GSMA strives to be as representative as possible. Companies of all sizes covet speaker slots and pitch hard to try and secure them. The GSMA receives hundreds of submissions every year – less than one in ten are successful. CCgroup was challenged to overcome these odds and complete speaker submissions on behalf of 14 clients for Mobile World Congress 2013.

Creative

While the GSMA publishes an outline agenda and a list of likely discussion topics early on, these are always subject to change as the process evolves. Sticking to a single topic therefore carries enormous risk. CCgroup therefore encouraged its clients to pursue multiple topics.

The GSMA has also gone to great lengths to make itself more accessible to companies wanting to ‘soft pitch’ ideas to them early on. CCgroup ensured as many of its clients as possible capitalised on this by meeting members of the content team once the call for papers had opened. CCgroup also encouraged as many of its clients as possible to offer access to their operator customers through joint case study submissions.

Consequence

CCgroup successfully secured eight speaker opportunities for its clients at MWC 2013 – an impressive result given the level of competition. Two CCgroup clients were offered case study presentations, one was invited to moderate an entire session and a further five took part in interactive panel discussions. CCgroup contributed three companies to the small cell session and a further two to the discussions on customer experience. All sessions were well attended and provided each client with a fantastic platform to display industry best-practice and thought leadership in front of hundreds of potential customers.
