American market for Russian start-ups

GlobalCom PR Networkbigstock

In 2014, the start-up, Luca, led by the former editor of Afisha magazine, Eugenia Kuyda, became the first Russian start-up participating in one of the most prestigious business incubators of the Silicon Valley – the legendary Y Combinator.  Every year, more than 30,000 companies from all over the world send their application to participate, but only 100-200 are selected for the program. YC has a history of providing a spring board for companies like Airbnb, DropBox, Reddit, and many others. Surely, this accelerator invests small amounts of money for the development, but, more importantly, its support of companies serves as an endorsement for investors from around the world.

PR takes centre-stage: Top 3 trends in 2014

As we are approaching the end of the year we have asked our PR teams around the world to share their top 3 PR trends and changes in the media market with us.

Richard Fogg,  MD of CCgroup, one of GlobalCom PR Network’s UK offices, provides the first post in the series:

RichardFoggThe key PR trend of 2014 has been about delivering on the rhetoric of the last few years. Conference after conference. Thought leader after thought leader. Blog after blog. The PR buzz terms have been coming thick and fast: Content marketing. Data-driven insights. Paid media. Outcome measurement. Search integration. Agency re-structuring.

Of course there are new terms entering the PR lexicon. But, critically, the industry is starting to deliver. Especially in the B2B technology PR space. Especially amongst nimble independent agencies. Especially in London. Read more

PR Events in Turkey

concept social networkIn our weekly series about events in Public Relations this week we visit Turkey where our colleague Jack Jacob provides us with some insights on the current trends and developments regarding PR events.

Utilize Social Media channels for event promotion

Many firms these days are questioning the benefits of using social media in B2B events. For example Twitter offers B2B event marketers a diverse network and is used heavily by industry professionals and B2B journalists. Read more

Malaysia: AN EVENTFUL LIFE

James Loke from Tangs presenting Heah Sieu Lay with his mock sponsorship cheque while Ms Msia Universe 2008 Levy Li looks on
Business to customer events such as interactive, hands-on sessions – think cooking and beauty workshops – restaurant or product review sessions and larger-than-life’ events such as fashion shows and glamourous ‘red carpet’ cocktails are the norm rather than the exception for most of our clients from the lifestyle sector: hospitality, food & beverage, fashion and beauty to name but a few.

Timing

In Malaysia, most media invitations for PR events are issued about three weeks to a fortnight prior to the scheduled date. Really large scale or more prominent events that warrant ample pre-publicity ahead of the actual event would naturally be flagged earlier to the media. Read more

Ukraine 2013: A 45 million people market with low competition

JukkaThis week we take a look at a market which is still a bit of a mystery to most European and non-Europeans alike. Jukka Laikari, who supports PR clients in the Ukrainian PR market since 2008, describes his impressions of 2013 in the Ukraine:

1. How did the global recession affect the demand for PR in the Ukraine in 2013?

Ukraine is a 45 million people emerging market. It is often said that it is the one big market in Europe with the least competition between brands and product offerings. Therefore it is still possible for new companies in this region or smaller players to win a reasonable market share and use PR as a very effective tool.
