In the fast-paced world we live in, it’s no surprise that e-retail is becoming the preferred method of shopping. In fact, a study released by Forrester Research announced that e-retail spending is to increase 62% by 2016! Here are 3 explanations of why people are skipping the trip to mall and shopping online this holiday season:

1. Price Comparison: There’s nothing worse than buying an item full price and finding it half off a week later. Online shopping allows you to shop around for the best prices easily before you commit to buying. Using the shopping tab on Google, you can scan hundreds of prices for your desired item in seconds without going from store to store and physically scanning price tags yourself.

2. No Lines, No Waiting: Online shopping is a great way to avoid the wild lines at the malls during the holiday rush. It’s likely that people are flocking to certain stores because of sales and promotions, but often times great sale items in stores are picked over or completely depleted. By shopping online, it’s easier to get the items you really want rather than choosing what’s left in a store. Online, every make and model is essentially at your fingertips.

4. The World is Your Oyster: One of my favorite reasons to shop online rather than stores is the ability to shop anywhere in the world from the convenience of your computer chair. By exclusively shopping locally, creativity with gifts is limited. By shopping virtually from merchants nationwide or even globally, you can get very creative with gifts rather than getting Mom her annual bathrobe. A great online merchant for unique jewelry, crafts, and homemade items is Etsy. Also, there’s everyone’s favorite online superstores, Amazon, and Ebay where you’re guaranteed to find anything and everything!
