GlobalCom PR Network-ICCO

December 10, 2015 / GCPR News

GlobalCom PR Network (GCPR) represents the 21st century breed of global PR development. It is an association of independent agency teams with a proven track record in their domestic countries united in a global operating network. With more than 1,400 experienced PR consultants, GlobalCom PR Network serves national and international clients who benefit from our local expertise and international presence.

In order to expand the PR reach and exchange best practices with other PR experts around the world in order to further rise the quality we can deleiver to our clients GCPR recently joined the International Communications Consultancy Organisation (ICCO) which provided a platform for public relations consultancies around the world.  The ICCO membership comprises national trade associations in 32 countries across the globe in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Americas and Australia. Collectively, these associations represent some 2,500 PR firms.

“Our aim is to raise our international standards, quality and performance for our international clients with this partnership as the ICOO and GCPR share common goals and visions” said Ralf Hartmann, CEO of GlobalCom PR Network.

GCPR also sponsored the “Independent Consultancy of the Year Award” at the recent  ICCO Global Awards 2015 which saw leading agencies, and individuals from across 6 continents win accolades for effectiveness in PR and communications.

Leading PR practitioners from across the globe attended the ICCO Global Awards 2015 at the Park Plaza Hotel, Riverbank on the evening of Thursday 26th November, hosted by BBC personality Helen Fospero. Top consultancies, individuals, and networks all competed for awards in 18 categories including two GlobalCom PR Network members: MY PR from Italy and Instinctif Partners from Hong Kong.

Do website comment sections serve any other purpose than being forums where people can fight anonymously?

We all know what to expect from website comment sections. Depending on who you talk to, they remain our digital society’s deepest cesspools, dankest wastelands, most snark- and shark-infested waters. It’s no mystery why a parade of media outlets have assessed the value of their own comment sections and have come to the conclusion that they’re just no longer worth the trouble. In the last few years, citing “uncivil comments” and a slew of other reasons, many have eliminated comments entirely, including Vox, Reuters, Re/code, Grantland and Popular Science. They allow conversations around their content to take place instead on social media – take a look at how Grantland’s Bill Simmons responds to commenters on a Facebook thread. Read more

PR with local experts but with a global reach? GlobalCom PR Network offers the best from both worlds. The international PR organization unites more than 70 locally well established and owner-driven public relations and marketing communications firms under a joint legal entity and shared management infrastructure.

The latest network partners include Julie King and Associates (Tourism & Travel, profile here) and Max Australia (IT and Cleantech) from Australia, Springtime (Consumer, Healthcare, Industrial & more) in China, Data Consult for the Czech Republic & Slovakia, Mohamed Al Geziry Consultancy in Dubai, MY PR (Healthcare & more) in Italy, Planner Media (Healthcare) in Spain, Springtime (Consumer, Healthcare, Public Affairs, Tourism & more) in Sweden, Promedia Public Relations in Turkey and Firstlight PR (Healthcare & more) in the UK.

GlobalCom also welcomes new clients in 2013 including some existing customers who utilize the international PR network to expand their PR global reach. Just a few examples include:

LifeProof – after a successful kick-off project in 2012, the California based producer of all-protective, everyday cases for smartphones and tablets expands its European PR program with GlobalCom starting with local PR teams in the markets Germany, Austria and Switzerland via Germany, Scandinavia via Sweden, France and the UK.

Swiss solar inverter specialist SolarMax by Sputnik engineering began expanding their European PR with GlobalCom in Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Switzerland in early 2012. In addition to new European markets SolarMax also increased internationalization by initiating a PR program in China later in 2012 and adding ongoing PR support for Australia in January 2013.

Procera Networks added Dubai to its PR support via GlobalCom partners in the UK and US. Procera Networks delivers Network Intelligence solutions based on Deep Packet Inspection technology. Procera’s PacketLogic solutions are used by enterprises, carriers, broadband providers and higher education institutions for high performance, scalable Intelligent Policy Enforcement and Application Delivery Networking deployments.

A few weeks ago, I blogged about how Amazon beat both Google and Apple to put music in the cloud, even though they sidestepped some strict U.S. licensing agreements. Well, it turns out Google was not too far behind with the launch of their own musical cloud service, which came out just six weeks later. But was Google following in Amazon’s footsteps too closely? GlobalCom Meeting in Milano, February 2009Far too much time has passed since our last Global Meeting, and it was the highest time to meet again. For some participants it was actually the first personal contact with their GlobalCom colleagues. The agenda of the meeting was packed, and there were quite a number of new partners present: Federico Unnia from Echo Comunicazione d’Impresa (Italy, Healthcare), Michael Patzer from Patzer PR (Germany, Healthcare), Irene Tato from Salud y Comunicación (Spain, Healthcare), Hanna Kleber from KPRN network (Germany, Tourism) and Ingo Harding from Public Link (Germany, Consumer & Lifestyle) took their chance to introduce themselves and their agencies to the network.

In the second half of day 1, the competence teams or task forces were “on stage”. It was simply amazing to see how many clients GlobalCom agencies of the first specialised teams –such as ICT – have already shared. But even several members of the more recently established competence teams (Tourism, Healthcare & Energy) have already shared clients – sometimes even without even knowing (yet).

But of course it was not all about prospects, to-do-lists and the like – the meeting also provided insights into various aspects of communication business as well. Cheryl Gale, Principal at March PR (Boston, USA), presented a case study on how Twitter can be used in PR and Communication. After listening to her “learn more about Twitter” was probably on the to-do-list of most participants.

One novelty for our global meetings was the idea to invite potential cooperation partners and network clients to the meeting. Dr. Johannes Niggl, Head of Division “Invest in Bavaria” at the Ministry of Economics in Bavaria, discussed the communicative challenges to present Bavaria as an investment location in an increasingly competitive world. Stuart Hurst, International Market Access Director at Nycomed, introduced his company and the expectations he would have regarding an international PR Network. For him PR partners worldwide are not simply “the voice of Nycomed” in foreign markets. He also expects them to act as “transmitters”, as they have an insight into the different healthcare systems and national healthcare policies.

Well, and after all, it’s not only about learning and listening… sitting together, enjoying a nice Milanese dinner and having great conversations was a very important part of the meeting. Thanks to the great support of our Italian PR partner Prima Pagina, everything was well organized. Thinking about the location for the next meeting, maybe we should integrate a partner agency from the Seychelles or some place like that into the network…

ITB Berlin

Not a premiere, but still exciting: GlobalCom PR-Network was represented with its own booth at ITB Berlin, the biggest tourism trade fair worldwide! Four participating agencies went to see the world: Claudia Wittwer from GlobalCom PR-Network Germany, Luc Malcorps from Outsource Marketing and Communications (Belgium), Daniel Chardon from Chardon Communications (Switzerland) and Velibor Zolak from AMC Communications (Montenegro), all members of the tourism task force within the network, presented GlobalCom to airlines, hotel chains and destinations.

Little obstacles put in our way – the public transport was on strike and there was heavy snowfall right on the first day of ITB – did not keep us away from making about 50 meetings with companies and organizations like Kempinski Hotels, Regione Piemonte, National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro, Abu Dhabi National Corporation for Tourism and Hotels and many more. The follow-up of these meetings is still in progress, but some of the meetings were quite promising. Read more
